Lazio Defender Gets Four-Match Ban, Fine For Biting On Pitch

Patric, Lazio defender, has been banned for four-match and also given a €1,000 (£8,985) fine for misconduct during the side's 2-1 defeat to Donati for biting Lecce Giulio on Tuesday.

The offense was spotted by the assistant referee and issued a red card straight away by the officiating referee. The game was already into injury time when Patrice committed the offense.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard admitted his wrongdoings in an update on his social media page claiming that it was one of the things that can happen on the pitch when players are in "high tension" over a game.

"I apologize for my behaviour," he wrote on Instagram. "I was not in a lucid state. These are things that can happen in times of high tension but when one understands the mistake and apologises, it stays on the pitch without hard feelings."

With seven games remaining to play for the Lazio, the 27-year-old will return in their away game against Verona as the team maintains the second position in the top four of the Serie A for a Champions League qualification,
