Kendrick Lamar Makes History With 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City'

It may not have occurred to Kendrick Lamar that his second album 'Good Kid, M.A.AD City' would survive on the chart frame for such a long time than any other hip hop artists' has to be the longest ever recorded in the history of the Billboard. The album has just done just that.

Lamar is a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for his last album DAMN and ever since he has taken a break from making music for three years now. That was not to mention that he did a soundtrack for Marvel Studios' superhero film 'Black Panther' and another song still for the same film, this time featuring SZA themed 'All The Stars' - both songs were released two years ago.

Whilst the rapper is nowhere in the limelight, 'Good Kid, M.A.AD City' brought the memory of him back to his fans as the album is ranked the longest-charting traditional hip-hop album in history. This remarkable feat reached by the project is no doubt a proof of the kind of artist he is made of.

For 400 weeks, the rapper's sophomore studio project has stayed on the Billboard 200 chart which it debuted at number two on its release in 2012. Not many artists' albums come close to that except Eminem's Curtain Call: The Hits. which was first regarded as the longest-charting until it bowed out for Lamar's for being all-new material in the genre. However, compared to Lamar's, it coasting to its 500th week.

Presently, there are no indications of any works going on in the studio on his comeback from hiatus, though there may be rumors of such but never mind, Lamar is not the extrovert type.
