Javicia Leslie To Star As Kate Kane In CW's Batwoman
It has been over a month when Ruby Rose announced she will be exiting her role in CW's Batwoman, she has now been replaced by Javicia Leslie, who will become the first black actor to ever star in the lead role as Kate Kane.
Ruby had only starred in the role for a season before she shocked her fans over the "very difficult decision" she made to step down in a statement reported by Entertainment Weekly in May. Though she did not state the reasons for quitting, she expressed her gratitude for being starred despite being a bisexual woman.
What the producers of the movie intended were to recast the role in season 2 but thought it best to bring on a new cast and that led to the "Always A Bridesmaid" actress being unveiled the one to take up the cap from Ruby.
Leslie, who appeared in two seasons of a drama-series God Friended Me, wrote on her social media page announcing her appointment: "I am extremely proud to be the first black actress to play the iconic Batwoman on television."
Just as Ruby, she revealed she is also a bisexual woman and that it is an honour for her "to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community."
