Hungarian Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton Dominates To Win Race As Max Verstappen Takes Second Place
Lewis Hamilton has extended his race win in Hungarian Grand Prix to a record-equalling eighth time having dominated through to claim his second race win of the season. Red Bull's Max Verstappen defiled crash to finish second behind defending world champion.
Mercedes was set for a one-two win after the Red Bull driver suffered a crash damaging his front wing, yet he held off Valterri Bottas to finish second while the Mercedes chased on to make the podium in the third podium.
Hamilton simply cruised through the laps to finish the quickest in 1:36:12.473s for his 86th career wins and jumped over his teammate Bottas in the driver standings after gaining a five-point lead over the Finn driver.
"Round One had multiple different punches that I wasn't perhaps ready for," said Hamilton. "But I focused and the last two have been fantastic. This weekend, we've just been on point throughout so we need to try and keep this up."
Sebastian Vettel improved from behind to finish in the sixth position as the only Ferrari driver in the top 10 and Racing point driver Lando Stroll had an impressive race to finish behind Bottas in the fourth position.
