Formula One: Lewis Hamilton Reveals Annual Salary Expected From New Deal With Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton has handled out what he will be expecting annually from his new deal with Mercedes as talks are ongoing between the two parties. As already known, the six-time champion is into the last season in his current contract and will need a new deal to continue with the team.
In his previous contract, Hamilton earns as much as £36million per annual from the two-year deal he signed until 2020. It is revealed that the Brit is reportedly considering £40 million from the new deal from Mercedes and that potentially will make him the highest-paid driver in the history of the sport.
Just as Hamilton, his teammate Valterri Bottas' contract also run out at the end of the season and there were speculations that the Finn driver would be exchanged with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Bottas dismissed the possibilities of that happening.
Sebastian has not found a new home after his deal talk with Ferrari broke down and has been exchanged with Carlos Sainz - the McLaren driver will take over his seat from next season. Daniel Ricciardo, likewise, left Renault to replace the Spaniard's seat in McLaren.
The 2020 season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, July 3-5 in Austria after a long four-month break forced upon the sport by the coronavirus pandemic, leading to F1 organizers to release a revised calendar following race cancellations.
