FA Cup: Arsenal Haul Out Manchester City To Reach Final
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang proved to Arsenal that he is that striker they can depend on after leading the team to oust Manchester City out of the FA Cup race by scoring twice to seal a 2-0 victory at Wembley Stadium for their final match appearance.
City came into the game as the defending champions of the silverware, interestingly, Mikel Arteta used to be an assistant manager under City's Pep Guardiola who mentored him before his appointment as Arsenal head coach replacing Unai Emery last year.
Despite dominating the game, City started conceding goals from the first half with the Gabonese forward breaking away for a counter-attack and smacked the ball through Emerson's legs. Yet again in the second half, Nicolas Pepe set the 32-year-old with a cross from the right flank out the 18-yard box and he slid to tap it in for the second goal.
The victory put Arsenal on the path for their first FA Cup and at the same time their first trophy since 2017 under former head coach Arsene Wenger.
"We've had an incredible week to beat the best two teams in Europe, it doesn't happen every day," he told BBC Sport. "I don't care who plays, I can trust them - we made changes and everyone was ready."
Arsenal in straight two games, have won back-to-back against the two best teams in the Premier League and one of the best in Europe - beat Liverpool 2-1 at Emirates on Wednesday.
