Conjuring 3 Release Date Postponed Until 2021

Conjuring has followed in the stead of other films that have suffered release date delay this summer as the sequel The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will not be released as scheduled for this year.

The film which is based on a true-life story of Arne Cheyenne Jackson's murder trial in 1981 has been announced to have a new release date set for the summer of 2021 according to Deadline. Reasons for this decision have been blamed on the coronavirus pandemic which has forced other films to push back on release dates as well.

This year, the film industry has witnessed significant hit by the novel killer bug as cinemas have remained closed since the outbreak. Though films like A Quiet Place, Candyman, The French Dispatch, and Soul are set for release in Fall when the spread of the virus is expected to have eased significantly.

The franchise made its first entry in 2013 ranking #1 on opening weekend and recorded domestic cume earnings of $137.4million. In the international market, the Michael Chaves directed film closed at $182million, bringing it global earnings to $319.4million.

Conjuring 2 did just like its predecessor ranking #1 at the box office on opening weekend in the domestic market but performed just a million-dollar better having closed with a global gross of $320.39million.

Conjuring 3 was previously set for release on September 11 before the pandemic hit in March. The film is now expected the make a theatrical release on June 4, 2021, according to Deadline.
