Bayern Munich Beat Leverkusen To Clinch 20th German Cup Win

Already crowned champions of the 2020 Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich, yet extended their German Cup streak to 20th as they beat Leverkusen 4-2 to lift the trophy for the third successive time.

The victory saw the team tallies man Robert Lewandowski netting a double to extend his goalscoring feat this season to 51 making him the Bundesliga high goalscorer of the season.

David Alaba, an Austrian of Nigerian descent, had first put the team in the lead in the 16th minutes before by an effort from Serge Gnarby put Bayern in a comfortable lead before the half time break.

Lewandowski nailed in his 50th goal with a thunderous long-range shot that caught Leverkusen goalkeeper Hradecky messing up and got his double flicking the ball over the Finnish goalie on the brink of full time.

The host team also scored in the second half of the game, first from Sven Bender's header following a corner before Lewandowski completed his scoring for Bayern and Kai Havertz scored the second for the side late in the added minutes.

For eight consecutive seasons, Hans Flick's men have dominated the Bundesliga title but these two silverware are the team's first without their two iconic players, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, both who retired from the sport last summer.
