Austrian GP: Lewis Hamilton Finished Quickest In Practice One
Lewis Hamilton kicked off the campaign for his championship title defense with an impressive start by finishing quickest in the first practice of the Austrian Grand Prix. Mercedes claimed a one-two finish on the timesheet whilst Sebastian Vettel could not make the top 10 list.
The race was held under a strict protocol following the coronavirus pandemic which had forced the season to be suspended until now. The practice also witnessed Mercedes launching its anti-racism black car for the first time which the six-time champion drove in.
Max Verstappen, who won is the race defending winner from last season, dropped behind Mercedes' Valterri Bottas to finish third in six seconds behind Hamilton.
Ferrari's performance at the practice was blamed on the team's choice of tyres which led its out-going pilot, Sebastian Vettel to finish 12th and his teammate Charles Leclerc came tenth.
