Willian And Pedro Sign Contract Extension Until Season-End With Chelsea
Willian and Pedro Rodriguez will have to stay on at Chelsea until the end of the season after signing new contracts to remain with the club through the season on Tuesday.
Both players have their previous contracts running until the end of June and had until Tuesday, June 23 - Premier League Deadline Day for extension - to pen their signature to a new contract otherwise they will have to leave as a free agent. The new deal was finalized after talks with Frank Lampard and club director Marina Granovskaia.
Willian had indicated his interest to remain in the Premier League after leaving Chelsea and specifically would prefer to join a London-based club with the demand of a minimum of a three-year deal. By the way, Chelsea would have wanted to keep him if he would accept a two-year which did not meet up with the Brazilian's demand to stay for another season.
AS Roma have been linked to Pedro for a transfer as a free agent after this new deal. The Spaniard, 32, has enjoyed five seasons at Chelsea that he joined from Barcelona in 2015 and has won three silverware with the team during his spell.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian, 31, has spent seven seasons at Stanford Bridge and has made 330 appearances having 59 goals with five silverware won with the club.
