RB Leipzig Manager Admits To Possibility Of Timo Werner's Exit In Summer

Liverpool's link to Timo Werner might eventually yield to his transfer from RB Leipzig in summer as the player approaches the deadline date set for his buyout clause. Left to the Bundesliga side, it is their desire to keep the top goalscorer of the season through years remaining in his contract.

Timo launched his scoring feat upon the league's return from the Covid-19 break with a hat-trick against Mainz and extended his total league game goal tally to 29 having scored in the team's 4-2 win over Fc Koln on Monday.

Speaking after Leipzig's match on Monday, manager Julian Nagelsmann was in no denial of the possibility of losing the player to Liverpool in the oncoming transfer window. Timo's contract clause of the £53m clause will expire on June 15 and that opens the doors to Reds further push on their interest for his transfer.

"There is nothing we can do about it. He knows what he has in Leipzig and also what he has with me," said Julian. "A player has to feel that he can get better. If he doesn't feel that, it wouldn't do any good if I kept on telling him to stay."

Meeting up with the player's buyout fee was one factor that had kept Liverpool at bay as they are believed not to be willing to pay that much according to 90mins. However, the fee will now be subjected to discussion between the clubs after the clause has expired.

The introduction of the German striker in Reds' frontline may not necessarily mean Liverpool will be better off in the attack as they have in the team's trio-attacker, Sadio Mane, Mo Sallah, and Robert Firmino who have played a vital role in team's campaign for their first Premier League title since 1989/90.
