The decision was reached on Thursday after the 20-member clubs met to deliberate on introducing new measures to the game by increasing the number of substitutes teams can make and players they can have on the bench.

They also agreed that clubs will be playing the remaining part of the league behind closed doors with considerations to impact having the spectators in their facilities will have on health and safety of staff and fans while the coronavirus pandemic is gradually easing off.

Liverpool, who are the table leaders, need Manchester City to lose their first game against Arsenal and they will emerge as the 2019/20 champions as they lead by a 25-point margin en route their first league title in 30 years and Reds' first under Jurgen Klopp. The German manager led the team to win the first Champions League title last season for the first time since 2004/05.
