Leroy Sane: Bayern Munich Agree On £54.8M Deal With Manchester City

It has become official that Leroy Sane will be leaving Manchester City this summer as the club and Bayern Munich have agreed on a £54.8m deal of five years for the winger.

Every effort made to persuade Sane to stay at City proved futile and his desire has been to leave for the Bundesliga side rather than stay at Etihad. Sane did not make more one league game appearance with City in their 2020 season campaign over sustaining a torn ACL injury during FA Community Shield game against Liverpool in August.

It is understood that Bayern will be paying City an initial fee of £44.7m with add-ons that will be based on his performance and winning trophies which could amount to an excess of £10 million according to reports.

Bayern has been the German player's dream future since last summer whilst City manager Pep Guardiola would like to have him at the club until the end of his contract next season but he later confirmed his exit since he would not change his mind over extending his contract with City.

"The club have talked to me, they've offered two or three times to extend his contract, he (Sane) rejected so it means he wants to play in another club," said Guardiola. "If at the end of this season we arrive at an agreement with another club, he is going to leave."

Sane will reportedly earn £20m per annual at Bayern which is more than what he currently earns annually at City where he is paid £4.6m (£90,000-a-week) per annum. Sane was signed by City from Schalke for £37m in 2016. During his spell at the club, he won seven silverware including two Premier League titles (2016/17, 2017/18) with team.
