La Liga: Barcelona Lose Table Lead To Real Madrid
Barcelona have a big job on their hands for fallen behind Real Madrid who won 2-1 in their away game against Real Sociedad to leapfrog to the top of the table in their race for the league title.
Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema scored the two goals to give the team the much-needed points to overtake their rivals who played goalless against Sevilla on Friday. Benzema could have made the margin even wider when he fired home Federico Valverde's cross which was later ruled out after the VAR was consulted.
Sociedad also had their moment when Adnan Januzaj's goal that should have equalized Ramos' goal was canceled for Merino being in an offside position. They later got a consolation goal from Merino in the 83rd minute.
Zinedine Zidane look set for his second La Liga title after his first in 2016/17 when he won the title along with Champions League, however, the race to the title is yet much open to either Barca and Madrid.
Madrid last La Liga title was won with Cristiano Ronaldo in the team that he has left the team to join Juventus after leading the club to win three successive Champions League titles. Benzema has taken up the charge and he is leading goalscorer with 39 goals this season.
