La Liga: Barcelona Beat Leganes To Retain Table Lead
Barcelona maintained title quest with 2-0 home victory over Leganes, led by Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati to gain a five-point lead over arch-contender Real Madrid.
Fati, a teenage player, opened the scoring for Barcelona late in the first half before Messi converted a penalty he drew from a foul by Ruben Perez after an hour of play.
The Guinea-Bissau winger produced his sixth career goal at Nou Camp with a brilliant finish with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box with an assist from Junior Firpo.
Barcelona's defense was put to the test by Leganes who came very close to getting two goals but missed as Clement Lenglet blocked Miguel Guerrero from going in and on the second occasion, missed the net a whisker after Recio connected him with a superb cross.
Leganes precarious situation continued to persist as they are the least in the table with 23 points whilst Barcelona are in the race to their second league title in a row.
