David Luiz Signs New One-Year Deal With Arsenal
Arsenal center-back, David Luiz, has printed his signature to a new one-year deal with the club ahead of his contract expiration which was set for the end of June.
Luiz joined the club in a season-long deal of £8million from Chelsea last summer and has been an integral part of Arsenal's defense, which the club's technical director Edu admitted to describing him as an "important player" for the team.
"David is a really important player for us," said Edu. "He has played most of our matches this season and has been important for the team. His passing, his communication with the team on and off the pitch, He helps everyone."
As Arsenal are still battling to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the team, they have secured permanent contracts with Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares, both of who were loaned to the team from Plamengo and Southampton respectively. Also, Dani Ceballos will finish the season with the team after his loan deal from Real Madrid was extended until season-end.
Edu added, "I am really happy that we will have these players in our squad for the future. They have been part of the long-term technical plan Mikel and I have developed. They bring the right balance to our squad."
