Borussia Dortmund's Executive Confident Jadon Sancho Will Not Leave In Summer

As concern continues to grow over Jadon Sancho's future, Borussia Dortmund's chief executive remains confident that the winger will not leave the club in summer because meeting up with his transfer fee will be difficult following the financial hardship inflicted on most European clubs by the coronavirus pandemic.

Manchester United are one club that has been strongly linked to the England starlet whose performance has drawn a lot of attention toward him amongst which was Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Borussia CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, who back in March, told BBC Sport that the player is happy at the club will not leave in summer, has now predicted the reason why the player will stay at the club despite the strong interest shown by United.

Speaking to Sport1, Watzke said: "If Jadon comes up to us and says he absolutely wants to leave - which has not been the case so far - and a club wants to pay what we want, then we will discuss it."

Understandably, most clubs cash-strapped and the German club is making a demand of £100m for the 20-year-old, a fee which Watzke sees as a deterrent and also the reason why the player might stay in summer.

"I don't think a club will pay the sum. There is also no coronavirus discount on him. We have left the period where we had to sell players. I don't think there will be a summer transfer."

Borussia finished the season in the second position in the Bundesliga table behind the leaders, Bayern Munich. In effect, they are guaranteed a Champions League qualification next season having finished in the top four - they were eliminated in the knockout stages of the competition this season by Paris Saint-Germain.
