Birmingham City Manager Pep Clotet Steps Down


Birmingham City head coach Pep Clotet has declared his intension to step down from the role at the end of the season after spending just a season at the club. 

After serving as an assistant for a season, Clotet was appointed as the caretaker head coach as the replacement for Garry Monk before he was offered a permanent contract six-month later. Now, the 46-year-old is seeking to sort for new challenges. 

Announcing his exit, the Spaniard in a statement, described his spell at St. Andrew's as "privilege" and also stated that though the decision was tough to make, it is the "best step" for him and the club to "move forward with their vision and strategy."

He added, "I'm very grateful to the club, its board, and the supporters for placing their faith in me to lead the team this season and to face up to the challenges involved in what's been a key transition under really demanding circumstances."
