Tennis To Return In Germany Behind Close-doors

Professional tennis is set to resume in Germany on Friday but it is reportedly going to be held behind close-doors neither are line judges and balls kids going to be allowed. Handshakes will not be allowed either.

The season was abruptly interrupted by the outbreak of Covid-19, which forced tournaments to be either canceled or postponed since mid-March. Wimbledon, Roland Garros, and Indian Wells Masters amongst events that have been canceled or postponed.

Ruben Herrera, an executive of the event organizer, assured players of their safety at the tournament and that they have put some measures in place to ensure nobody falls "sick" for participating.

"You really have to be very cautious and very detailed oriented on how you provide this kind of exhibition for players," said Herrera.

British-born German player, Jan Choinski, Dustin Brown, and David Goffin are amongst players who will be participating in the competition for €3,000 prize fund.

Herrera added, "After reading the guideline and seeing that professional players can play already and the [little] likelihood of people getting sick by touching the balls, we are changing them as normal."
