Spain PM Pedro Sanchez Hints At La Liga Resumption


No time is set yet for Spanish La Liga to return since the coronavirus lockdown, going by the speech of the country's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, football events are expected to return "soon".

Spain was badly hit by the pandemic having a record of one of the highest in the world and football clubs are also impacted in terms of their revenue generation and players are forced to agreed to take wages-cut during this global health crisis. 

"We hope that leagues and federations will come to a decision soon," Pedro said in his speech. "We already started to allow individual training sessions for sports, we hope will come sooner rather than later."

Ligue 1 has already been canceled and Paris Saint Germain have been crowned as the 2019/20 season Champions. Likewise, the Dutch league has also been canceled and Ajax denied the league title. 

La Liga, however, is expected to return in mid-June, and games are expected to be held behind closed doors. Barcelona and Real Madrid closely trail by a two-point difference followed by Sevilla and Real Sociedad in the third and fourth positions respectively.
