RB Leipzig Insist On £49M Fee For Liverpool Target Timo Werner


RB Leipzig's would not be accepting a transfer fee lesser than £49 million from Liverpool in their quest for Timo Werner's signature to move to Anfield in the summer transfer window. 

Timo's sensational performance has earned him the attention of Liverpool and are reportedly strongly linked to the forward who scored a hat-trick in Leipzig's 5-0 win over Mainz on Sunday. 

Liverpool already have these wonder trio-attacker in the person of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino, nevertheless, Werner is one striker that has reached prominence in the Bundesliga with a goal tally of 30 which trailed the league's top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski by just three. 

Explaining the club's position on the fee demand for the striker, the club's chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff revealed the club will not be selling the forward lesser than his market value otherwise Liverpool will have to forget about the transfer. 

"It won't get any cheaper. We will not sell a player below value if he is under contract for more than a year," Mintzlaff explained. "Can we replace a player if we sell him for less than his market value?"

The 24-year-old who joined the side in a three year deal for a handful fee of £8.9m from VfB Stuttgart in 2016, now has a total of 91 goals in 152 appearances in all competitions - he is also the youngest player ever to make 200 Bundesliga appearances.

Mintzlaff added, " We will have complete control over the situation. I am relaxed. Timo has a contract over the next three years."

Besides Werner, Reds also have in the line up for transfer, Bayern Munich loanee Philippe Coutinho, whose fee has been lowered from to £71 million to ease his exit from Barcelona.
