Manchester United: Odion Ighalo Under Pressure To Return To Shanghai Shenhua
Odion Ighalo loaners Shanghai Shenhua reportedly want the player to return to the side on the time they set in his loan contract with Manchester United despite his interest to finish the season at Old Trafford.
United have not signaled interest in triggering the clause to keep Ighalo at the club as the Chinese side is demanding a fee of £20 million which the English side might not be ready to spend despite the incredible performance shown by the Nigerian international.
In the quest to ward off United, Shanghai has offered the forward a wage increase of £400,000 a week in a new two years contract. That move from the Chinese further cast a shadow over United's interest to retain him considering the cost.
The Premier League is set to resume by June for the completion of the remainder of the season interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. Apparently, Ighalo will not be able to finish the season with United if not extended as he must have run out of contract with the club.
Ighalo was signed to United in a loan contract on January transfer Deadline Day after talks broke for Bournemouth's forward Joshua King. It was a move that he least expected could happen.
However, his performance at the club has earned the praise of many analysts and even Ole Gunnar Solksjear for his contribution to United's unbeaten run in eleven games in all competitions before football suspension in March.
