Keanu Reeves' Film John Wick: Chapter 4 Release Date Gets A Year Delay

Had it not been for the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, Keanu Reeves was meant to be getting a double release in the same month next year - The Matrix 4 and John Wick: Chapter 4. Unfortunately, that will not be happening as the John Wick sequel will be delayed for one calendar year.

The killer bug has forced the box office to shutdown and studios responded by changing their films release dates, some pushed theirs back to late summer/early-fall amongst which is No Time To Die whilst others will take a long wait for a year to release theirs - Diesel Vinyl and Dwayne Johnson's franchise Fast & Furious 9 has been delayed until spring next year.

Since Reeves his reprising his role in both films, the coronavirus lockdown interruption of The Matrix 4 production has effectively impacted Lionsgate's schedule for Chapter 4, leading to the announcement on Friday that changes have been made to some of their films' release dates which include John Wick 4 that will now be released on May 21, 2022.

Matrix 4 was into its fourth week of production when it was forced to shut down over the lockdown, nonetheless, nothing has changed about its release date which is set for May 21, 2021. By the way, Reeves had already finished his part in the shooting before the interruption.

Just as John Wick sequel, the studios also canceled the release date for Chris Rick and Jackson's film Spiral. Initially, the horror film which was meant to drop on May 14, has now been changed to May 21, 2021. Likewise, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard that was was previously set to drop on August, 28 will now be released on the same date next year.
