German Bundesliga: Robert Lewandowski Scores Twice As Bayern Win Big Against Dusseldorf

Inside an empty stadium at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena, Fortuna Dusseldorf suffered a massive 5-0 defeat to the host team with Robert Lewandowski scoring two goals as the side maintained their table dominance by a 10-point margin over the closest team.

Lewandowski's two goals brought his goal tally this season to 43 in all competition which is the biggest for any players in the Bundesliga and in Europe 2019/20 season.

Bayern scored three goals before the first half break which the Polish forward completed with a right-footed shot from inside the box in the 42nd minutes. On their return from break, 10 minutes later, Lewandowski flicked into the net Serge Gnarby's cross, and that was followed by Alphonso Davis making it a fifth two minutes later.

The opening goal, however, was as a result of an own goal by Dusseldorf's Jorgensen who deflected into the net Benjamin Pavard's shot following a cross from Gnarby in the 15th minute.

With a 10-point lead, Bayern Munich are on track for their eighth Bundesliga title which is a record feat for a club in the league history. This season's title will be in the absence of Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery for the first time since 2009/10. Both players led the team to win seven consecutive titles before retiring from professional football last summer.
