Ajax Confirm Goalkeeper Andre Onana Can Leave In Summer Amidst Link To Chelsea

Chelsea could soon be welcoming a new goalkeeper at Stanford Bridge as Ajax confirmed Andre Onana can leave the club for free in summer. Blues, who have for a while been on the lookout for a goalkeeper to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga might have just found what they are looking for.

Arrizabalaga was signed to Chelsea in a record-signing of £71.6 million from Barcelona in 2018 but has fallen out of favour with the club manager Frank Lampard over his performance, losing his place to Willy Cabellero.

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag told a Dutch tabloid Algemeen Dagblad that Onana, who he described as "important" to the team is ready to leave the club. Though, it is difficult for them to let him go but they already had an agreement with him from last summer.

"Andre is very important to us," ten Hag explained. "We have an agreement from last year about the development scenario and what steps we will take if the right club comes in at the right price,"

Barcelona are understood to also be linked to the Cameroonian, who is understood to be available for signing at considerably an affordable price for both the Spaniards and Chelsea. The Dutch side is only asking for £25 million in fee for the goalkeeper.
