Premier League To Resume In June
The top executives managing the affair of the Premier League are considering reopening footballing activities in five weeks' time in the bid to finish the season despite the Covid-19 lockdown.
Should the Premier League go by the UEFA directive which suggests that leagues can decide on winners by merit, Liverpool would be declared winners as they lead with 25 points clear the closest team Manchester City with nine games remaining.
Nonetheless, the 2019/20 season, however, will reportedly be reopened on June 8 and the FA chiefs they have sent the schedule for the remaining fixtures to the 20 team in the league ahead of a meeting on Friday, according to The Sun.
Footballing events were suspended in the United Kingdom as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown and the government has stated that professional sports will not be given preferential treatment as sportsmen and women will have to be tested before the game resume. Presently, the lockdown is still in effect across the country.
Teams like Arsenal and Tottenham have already returned to training but that is expected to take full effect across the team in the Premier League in mid-May before games will resume in June. However, the season is expected to end before August 29 according to an instruction from UEFA which stated that all leagues must end on the date aforementioned.
