Nollywood Star Funke Akindele, Husband Charged For Breaking Lockdown Rules, Pleaded Guilty

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele will face legal charges by the Nigerian authorities for violating the public gathering restriction rules over the Covid-19 pandemic by hosting a big house party over the weekend.

Funke and her husband Abdulrasheed Bello otherwise known as JJC Skillz, who turned 43-year-old over the weekend, hosted a star-studded birthday party at their residence in Lekki Ajah, Lagos. The couple were arrested after a clip of the party surfaced online with Naira Marley in attendant.

The 'Big Girls' lead actress later went online to apologise for flouting the rules after the clip had gone viral, but it was too late for her to undo her wrongs as the authorities had called at her resident and asked her and her husband to report themselves to the CID police station in Yaba, Lagos.

A legal lawsuit was filed against the couple at the Magistrates Court on Monday and both have reportedly pleaded guilty to two-count charges.

Funke and her husband risk a month jail sentence, a fine of one hundred thousand naira (£220) or sentenced to three-month community service as prescribed in the lockdown bill.
