Naira Marley's Lockdown Flouting Case Withdrawn
The COVID-19 lockdown rules flouting case filed against Naira Marley has been withdrawn by the government. He and other defendants were only asked to apologize for their flagrant disregard of the rules.
Marley surrendered himself to the police after attending a lavished birthday party hosted a Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and her husband Abdul Rasheed Bello, an act that broke the social distancing rules of the Lagos State Government.
The couple was later charged and sentenced to 14-day community service plus a #100,000 fine at a Magistrate Court for deliberately breaking the lockdown rules after a clip from the party surfaced online. Unfortunately, Marley was spotted in the video.
Defense counsel, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, confirmed the withdrawal of the case which by the Lagos State Government. Unlike the party hosts, Marley was acquitted from the allegations leveled against him.
As already known, the Soapy singer has a case of 11-count charge of conspiracy and credit card fraud leveled against him by the Nigerian financial crime watchdog, which is set for hearing on May 13 at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.
