Manchester United Considering Offer For Juventus Matthijs de Ligt Inclusive Of Paul Poba

Manchester United are reportedly nursing a plan to make an offer for Juventus's defender Matthijs de Ligt in an effort to offload Paul Pogba, who is already keen on leaving the club.

Juventus happened not to be the dream spell De Ligt would have expected as he struggled to get enough game appearance, coupled with that is a battle with knee and shoulder injuries. Ligt's move from Ajax last summer saw him become the most expensive teenage defender after signing a £67.5m with Juve.

For United, this is an opportunity to boost its defense by signing the player they have been linked to since last summer but were edged out of the race with Juventus and Barcelona joined in. Now that Pogba wanted out of the club with links to Real Madrid and Juve, they are reportedly considering using him as a bait for De Ligt according to Daily Star.

Pogba's link to Real reached its peak when Zinedine Zidane rejoined the club last summer and was near getting a deal for him by trying to offload Gareth Bale but United were resolute on keeping Pogba. Now that they have Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, United might not be that keen on keeping the Frenchman like they were last season.

Pogba has been on the sideline with injury but is due to return after the league reopens following its suspension for coronavirus outbreak and United are set to make a move for De Ligt in summer. They could have waited until next summer but Ole Gunnar Solksjaer would rather have a deal done in the next transfer window to team the Netherlander with Harry Maguire in the defense.
