Legendary American Singer Bill Withers Dies, Aged 81


Legendary American musician and singer of the hit song 'Ain't No Sunshine' Bill Withers has passed away reportedly from heart disease. He was aged 81-year-old.

Bill's family confirmed his demise on Friday in a statement that reads, "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved devoted husband and father. A solitary man with a heart-driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music."

The deceased released his debut album in 1971 with 'Just As I Am' on which is the hit track 'Ain't No Sunshine'. Also amongst his hit songs during his career is Lean on Me and Lovely Day, Just the Two of Us, Lonely Day, Use Me, and Grandma's Hands.

His family added in the statement, "In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones."

Bill has three Grammy awards to his name and his biggest hit on the Billboard chart was 'Ain't No Sunshine' which climbed to No. 3 and stayed on the Billboard top 40 chart for 16 weeks. He is survived by his wife Marcia and his children  Todd and Kori.
