Ivan Rakitic Slams Barcelona For Treating Him Like "Sack Of Potato" In Failed PSG Transfer

Ivan Rakitic has called out Barcelona for he was treated in an attempt to force a transfer to Paris Saint Germain on him last season. Having to put him in the middle of Neymar Jr.'s failed return move to Barcelona as bait for PSG is unacceptable.

Neymar and the Ligue 1 side had a very sour relationship last summer, resulting in his desire to return to Barcelona - a transfer that the Spaniards were ready to swap Rakitic for - but ended unsuccessfully as PSG maintained they were not satisfied with the offer given them.

Rakitic had just won his fourth La Liga title with the club, asking him to accept a transfer he never had plans for, he described as being treated as "sack of potatoes" that you just throw around. He told Mundo Deportivo that he would rather decide his future than let the club do that.

"I'm not a sack of potatoes that you can just do anything with. I want to be somewhere I feel wanted, respected, and needed" he said. If that's here then I'll be delighted, but if it's somewhere else, I'll be the one who decides where not anyone else."

The Croatian is linked for a move in summer to either Atletico Madrid or Manchester United but the Spaniards are understood to stand the chance considering his fee which Barcelona tagged at £17 million.

"I was annoyed with how I was treated. I was very surprised and I didn't understand it," he added. "I had a very strange first half of the season, it was very uncomfortable and surprising for me. I hope I can finish this last year of my contract."

Rakitic has just a season left in his contract and could leave Barcelona in summer as two European giants are already in the race for him. However, he has won 13 silverware with the club he joined from Sevilla in 2014.
