Italia Serie A To Resume Earliest In June
As the numbers of the infected cases of the coronavirus gradually slow down in Italy, there is a possibility that Serie A will resume earliest in June, a source to Sky Sports.
Italy was ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic and was at a time the new epicenter of the virus after China had successfully brought the outbreak in Wahun under control - the Chinese city was where the first case of human-to-human infection was recorded.
Football games had been suspended in Italy since March 9 due to the lockdown enforced by the country's government as a result of the outbreak. Now that the country's government has announced they will relax the lockdown, the Sky Sports reporter, Fass, revealed that Serie A will not resume until June 10.
"Football can 't start again officially, or can't start officially in the training centres - the clubs won't be allowed to - until the 18th May," said Fass.
The shutdown has taken a devastating toll on the football league across the continent and most clubs and their players have agreed on pay-cuts - the cut is 70 percent for Juventus which is expected to save the club £90 million.
She went further to explain that, "For the moment, footballers will be allowed to run and train in a local park, but not at their training center."
Should it be impossible to finish the league, UEFA has given a directive that FAs can decide on who win the title based on merit and without discrimination.
