Dwayne Johnson Recalls Losing Role To Tom Cruise

Dwayne 'Rock' Johnson is not a new face in the film industry, most cinemagoers without a doubt must have the macho-man he is in films and how fast he could get things done. I'm not insinuating Fast and Furious - a franchise he stars in - but considering how hefty he is, he the kind of guy that would get a role almost as he wanted.

That notion is not really true about the Jumanji star in actual fact according to him. There are roles he confessed he really wanted so badly that as fate would have it, he could not get them. Somebody else did. Well, what could he have done?

Who could have been in Dwayne's way of getting roles a really wanted? That happened to be Tom Cruise for a role as Jack Reacher, and he was glad the Mission Impossible star actor did. He made this confession during a Q&A session on Instagram.

Explaining how the roles slip off him in a clip posted on his Instagram page, he revealed that getting in a role in a film in Hollywood comes not just because you are a versatile actor but there are criteria for landing a role and a prospect will have to be the right match for it.

"In Hollywood, actors are kind of like in-a-box," he said when asked if he ever lost a role to another actor. "There are actors that can vie for a particular role because it allows them to have a certain look, skin colour, size, etc."

Even Dwayne knew not every actor is made of the huge size of his in Hollywood, but that role was not just is and could only be Tom's. Losing that role paved the way for landing a role in the Fast and Furious franchise. He was telling his followers about what happened about 10 years ago.

"I wanted that role badly, I was his fans and he was might height - 6'4" 6'5", 274- 280lb - and he was a bad dude. I got the call saying, 'Hey, look. You didn't get the role'." he added.

"It's funny how the universe works, sometimes. When I didn't get that role, I got a call from Universe Studio saying, 'Hey, we've got this idea about you joining the Fast and Furious franchise.'"

Dwayne revealed he accepted the role anyways despite the payment that was the role, but his plan was to ensure he successfully to create the character that everyone would like. Eventually, entering into that franchise in Fast 5 later resulted in the creation of Hobbs and Shaw.

Hobbs and Shaw which starred Edris Elba as the villain closed at the box office with a massive global gross of $760.4 million despite a humble domestic gross of $173.9 million.
