David De Gea Describes Manchester United Spell As "Dream" As He Nears 10th Year
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has expressed his delight in his spell at Old Trafford as he approaches a decade-long stay at the club, that is a duration he admitted could not have occurred to him wildest dream.
The former Atletico Madrid keeper joined United in 2011 under Sir Alex Fergusson and has until 2023 in the contract he extended with the club in September last year. He won his only Premier League title with the side in 2012/13 under the former head coach.
"Just to be a part of this club is amazing," he said on the club website. "To be nearly 10 years, it's like a dream. It's great to play games with the club, so I hope I can be here [for] more years, many years."
United was fifth with 45 points in the EPL table before football suspension came into effect over coronavirus pandemic. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, United manager, led through eleven successive games unbeaten in all competition before the lockdown.
Red Devils stand the chance of getting a slot in the qualification for the Champions League if UEFA's two-season ban served Manchester City is not overruled at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
