Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson's Drama 'Black Mafia Family' Gets Starz Approval

Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson's to start work on his new series 'Black Mafia Family' with Starz after getting a nod of the streaming network's president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch.

Starz and the rapper-turned-producer re-established their relationship in 2018 after a deal worth £150 million was signed by both parties. The contract allowed the 'Power' to further develop scripted and unscripted projected exclusively for the network through his own company, G-Unit Film & Television Inc.

"This is a project Curtis has always been incredibly passionate about," said Jeffery. "'Black Mafia Family' has all the hallmarks of a great drama, from the larger-than-life Flenory brother to the deadly, high-stakes world they inhabited."

Based on a true-life story, the film is set back to the 80s about two brothers who started life from the tough streets of Detroit and in the course of their struggle through life, fortune smiled on them and they founded one of the most influential crime families in the United States.

Optimistic about how the drama would fare, Jeffrey expressed his confidence by saying, "This series is going to be an incredible ride for audiences around the world."

Jackson's previous drama on the network Power had a successful run and Omari Jackson - the lead character - won for the drama, the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama for three consecutive years - 2018, 2019, and 2020.
