Chelsea Relinquish Interest In Philippe Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho's expectation of a Premier League has just been dashed as Chelsea withdrew their interest as he counts down to wrapping up his loan spell at Bayern Munich.
Barcelona's many attempts to get rid of the Brazilian have proved futile and that led to his loan move to Bayern last summer. The Germans are also not satisfied with his performance and are willing to trigger the clause to retain him.
Instead of pursuing Philippe, Chelsea, have in February, already agreed on a deal with Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech, who will officially be unveiled in summer. Likewise, they have lined up Bayer Leverkusen striker Kai Havertz for transfer in summer. Both players reportedly canceled out Frank Lampard's need of Philippe
Philippe fell out of favour with Barca after completing a season and a half spell at Nou Camp which was not satisfactory and not keen on keeping at the club. He was signed in a club-record signing of £145 million from Liverpool as a replacement for Neymar Jr. who left the club for Paris Saint Germain in a world-record signing of £198 million in 2017.
Rather than welcoming him back to the club from Bayern, the Spaniards have lined him and Ousmane Dembele up for a swap deal in summer - both players cost Barca a whopping £267 million. Whilst Philippe's future is still in the balance, Dembele is reportedly linked to Manchester City in exchange for Joao Cancelo.
