Arsenal Coaches, Players Agree On Pay-Cut
Arsenal's senior football team and the coaching crew have agreed to take a 12.5 percent pay-cut over coronavirus lockdown which has caused football cancelation across Europe.
The club made this known in a statement on Monday that the reduction will be on their annual salaries and it will take effect from next month. The move it revealed is an initiative to support the club and they will refund persons affected over the seasons ahead when they have met their target.
"We are pleased to announce that we have reached a voluntary agreement with our first-team player, head coach and core coaching staff to help support the club at this critical time," the statement reads.
Just as Arsenal, some top-flight clubs in Europe like Juventus and Barcelona have also taken pay-cut of about 70 percent to help the club save in the time of coronavirus lockdown and to be able to pay the non-sporting member of staff.
The statement added, "We will be able to make those repayments as hitting these targets, which the players can directly influence, will mean our financial position will be stronger. The agreement is based on the assumption we will finish the season 2019/20 and receive the full broadcasting revenues."
