Xavi Wants Barcelona's Head Coach Job, Promised To Resign Neymar Jr.
The former Barca midfielder started his coaching career with Qatari side Al Sadd where he ended his professional football career last year. Early this year, he was approached by Barca's executive as a favourite replacement for former head coach Ernesto Valverde before they appointed Quique Setien instead.
In an interview with a Spanish outlet La Vanguardia, the 40-year-old revealed he is now excited about coming to terms with a return to the club he once played for before changing career.
"I am clear that I want to return to Barcelona, it gives me a lot of excitement," he mentioned. "I made it clear to them that I saw myself in a project that started from zero and in which the decision-making was mine."
Xavi's stint at Nou Camp lasted for 18 years and was well-decorated with trophies - eight Spanish La Liga titles and four Champions League title - and enjoyed a huge 767 appearances with the club in all competitions during his spell.
On how he plans to bring the glory days back to Nou Camp, he explained that it might require resigning Neymar Jr. from Paris Saint Germain, a move he believes "would fit in due to the social issue" and without a doubt, will be a "spectacular signing" for the Spanish giants which he desires to make like Bayern.
A return to Barcelona was top on the Brazilian forward's interest last summer but talks between PSG and Barcelona failed to materialize in his return despite choosing to take a pay cut to facilitate his return.
