Utah Jazz Player Rudy Gobert Donates $500K To Help Arena's Employees And Fighting Coronavirus
Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert is the first NBA player to be tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 virus, yet is showing love to his team's part-time employees and other patients of the virus by making donations towards fighting the pandemic.
Gobert pledged a whopping $500,000 towards fighting the outbreak which has claimed nearly one thousand lives in Italy only but the United States has reported fewer cases of casualty.
NBA has suspended all fixtures this season after two professionals were tested positive and promised to use the break to "determine next step for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic" in a statement on Wednesday.
Nearly half of the amount donated ($200K) reportedly will go towards helping part-time employees at Utah's Vivint Smart Home Arena who have been sent home after the break announcement and might find life difficult as a result.
Utah commended NBA for "correctly made" decision to suspend the games to help combat the spread of the virus for which their player has been tested positive.
