Tyson Fury v Deontay Wilder Rematch Clause Triggered, Date Announced

It is still not time for Tyson Fury to relax for winning the WBC heavyweight belt Deontay Wilder as the American's promoter confirmed there is going to be a trilogy as the clause has been activated.

Wilder is determined to undo his devastating defeat to Fury at MGM Grand in LAs Vegas and promised his fans in a tweeted clip that he will be back with his belt. Since he has 30 days to press the rematch button, his promoter Bob Arum revealed during an interview with Ringside Reporter that the rematch is set to happen sometimes in summer.

"Wilder and his representatives formally notified us last night that they have accepted the rematch and are going forward," Arum confirmed. "It's going to happen in the summer, before the Olympics. Middle of July."

Fury and his team intended that they move on to fight Anthony Joshua should the Americans fail to trigger the clause. Joshua has a fight ahead with Bulgarian fighter Kubrat Publev but his promoter Eddie Hearn has also suggested he take on Fury for a unification fight later this year.

Already Eddie's plan for a unification fight might not happen as soon as he might wanted it since Wilder had made known his intentions to trigger the clause in the tweeted message. A decision Wilder said revealed is not based on emotions but principle because he had warned his team that he would rather go out on his shield than surrender by throwing in the towel.

"It is not an emotional thing, it's a principal thing. We've talked about this situation many, many, many years before this even happened. I said as a warrior, as a champion, as a leader, as a ruler, I was to go out on my shield."
