Steven Gerrard Considering Quiting Rangers In Days, Says "I Need To Think"

As winning the Scottish Cup title has eluded Steven Gerrard-led side Rangers, the former Liverpool center-midfielder is considering quitting his job at the club as the manager in a matter of days.

Rangers are second in the Scottish table behind Hearts to whom they lost 1-0 that knocked them out of the Scottish Cup in the quarter-final on Saturday. Also, they trail by 12 points behind Hearts who are poised to winning the Premiership title as they are the table leaders.

When asked about how he felt his side's defeat to, Hearts, Gerrard expressed his disappointment and his plans to leave the club as soon as he could. He revealed he is currently having deep thought about that and will make known the outcome in 48 hours.

"The plan was to have a day off tomorrow, but I need to think about where we are at as a group," he said about his frustration with missing out on his title bid with the side. "I need to do some real serious thinking in the next 24-28 hours. I just need to think."

It is unknown where the 39-year-old hope to continue his career as a head coach after leaving the Scottish side but he had once been tipped as favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool FC. Even Reds German manager personly tipped him as one he would pick should he step down his role at At Anfield.

Gerrard clarified that this mixed feeling is because of his "desperation" to lift the league trophy with the side he joined from Chelsea in June 2018, which does not seem to be feasible any more after their elimination from Scottish Cup race on Saturday.

"I am desperate to win here, but looking from the side today (after we lost 1-0 to Hearts) I didn't get the impression that the feeling among my players was the same. I'm very disappointed. It's the lowest I felt since I came into the job."
