Shkodran Mustafi Uncertain About Future At Arsenal
Shkodran Mustafi has not ruled out the possibilities of leaving Arsenal as a reality at the end of his contract as he remained uncertain about his future at the club despite enjoying a favourable appearance under Mikel Arteta.
The 27-year-old has until 2021 in his contract with Gunners and has Arteta to thank for making a regular appearance recently because under Unai Emery he hardly could make the starting lineup and was tipped for exit last summer.
Compared to how he was under Emery, the German admitted Arteta has helped improved his performance and praised his coaching acumen, which to him is excellent for him to have within just four years after leaving the club as a player to work under Pep Guardiola as an assistant coach at Manchester City.
"The way he is at his age, that has really surprised me," Mustafi to Sky Sports in Germany. "I feel that in this short amount of time I ready learned some new things that help my game. I can imagine continuing to play for him. But we still don't know about the future."
Arsenal's hope of making the top four of the Premier League is definitely not feasible as they are ninth in the table and in this time of global health crisis following the Covid-19 virus outbreak when league game has been suspended until late April or middle of May.
He added, "There are so many discussions whether we can even finish the season or not. So it is difficult to think about my personal future. None of us know what will happen next."
Mustafi is into his fourth season at the club that he joined from Valencia under Arsene Wenger in 2016. He, ever since, has made 133 appearances in all competitions for the side.
