Olympiakos Owner Evangelos Marinakis Contracts Coronavirus On Trip To Greece


Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest and Olympiakos, has diagnosed positive for the deadly COVID-19 virus, coronavirus the EFL Championship side announced on Tuesday.

Already, most European clubs' matches are expected to be played behind closed doors over the spread of the virus. In Italian Serie A, Juventus match against Inter Milan was postponed to May 15 and presently the whole country has been locked down over the growing rate of infections.

In a statement released by Forest, it was confirmed that the club owner has contracted the bug on his trip to Greece. He showed the first symptoms of the virus in the country which he did not have before leaving Nottingham.

"Mr. Marinakis was diagnosed after showing the first symptoms on his return to Greece," the statement confirmed and called out for help from medical professionals and the relevant governing bodies to make sure that the right treatment is administered.

However, the Greek government is taking the right measures to ensure the spread of the virus is well managed as they have instructed that all sports events will be played behind closed doors for two weeks.
