Johnson Dwayne Confirms Sequel For Hobbs & Shaw Is Developing
Hobbs & Shaw, in general, performed well for Universal Pictures with a massive international market gross of $586.5 million, however, that performance could not be achieved in North America with a domestic gross that fell short of expectation having closed at $173.9 million. Nevertheless, that would not wade off Johnson and the film's director David Leitch from going back to the drawing board for a sequel.
Johnson dropped the hint that the making of the film is underway despite the global pandemic and that he is very much "excited" about setting a direction for the sequel. Hobbs & Shaw followed the starring of British artist Jason Statham in Fast & Furious 6 and 7 portrayed as Deckard Shaw. The spinoff is centered on having to stop a villain in the person of Idris Elba (Brixton Lorr) with a technologically advanced body on a mission to wreak havoc on the world.
The Jumanji lead actor revealed this in an Instagram Live Q&A and confirmed it that they are " developing now the next film, the next [Hobbs & Shaw] movie," and that it is something that he is "pretty excited about". Given the reason for this, he explained further that the production team, "just gotta figure out the creative right now and the direction" they are to take on the film's making.
He did not, however, give details on who will be reprising their role in the sequel, but what can be expected is that Jason Statham and Johnson will be reprising their role as the ending part of leaves the film leaves Johnson and Jason with more task ahead against the masterminds of the plot to wreak havoc.
