FA Cup: Chelsea Knock Liverpool Out To Reach Quarter-finals
Liverpool are out of FA Cup race after losing 2-0 to Chelsea who advanced into the quarter-finals of the competition whilst Reds will have to focus on the Premier League as the sure domestic title within their reach.
Reds unbeaten run after 18 league games were ruined by Watford in a 3-0 defeat that witnessed poor defensive play otherwise they could have had the longest winning runs in the Premier League history. Now the tie with Manchester City on a record set for the feat.
Back to this competition, Reds were no match for Blues in this game and got punished for Virgil van Dijk's defensive error that gifted away a chance for Willian to struck in the first goal.
Reds had a couple moment, nearest was a scoring chance from close range that Mo Salah could not strike the ball past Kepa Arrizabalaga. The bounced off to Reds' reach for multiple attempts in the box, yet allow was blocked by Chelsea.
Ross Barkley completed the scoring following a fast break and slammed a left-foot home in front of tired Reds' defense for the winning goal. Mason Mount and Olivier Giroud nearly added in the third and fourth only for the ball to hit the crossbar.
Liverpool have now suffered a back-to-back in the domestic league just after their 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League first-leg tie. They will have to focus on the Premier League and defense of the Champions League title they won last season.
