Eddie Hearn Says Anthony Joshua Could Prioritise Fighting Tyson Fury Over Kubrat Pulev For Covid-19 Virus Scare

Could Tyson Fury be the next fight for Anthony Joshua after his rematch with Deontay Wilder scheduled to hold in summer? Well, fingers crossed over that.

Eddie Hearn's comments that thrown some doubts over the mandatory fight between Anthony Joshua and Bulgarian challenger Kubrat Pulev following the current global health crisis caused by the Covid-19 virus outbreak. There might be a need to move over to Fury if the situation remains the same.

Fury has a contractual agreement for his trilogy with Wilder, who lost his WBC heavyweight title to him in a seven-round knockout. The fight no doubt will not be canceled except that changes can be made to the date according to Eddie. However, a change of date for Joshua v Kubrat's fight might suggest moving on to a unification fight.

"Well I think, all of a sudden, does the Joshua-Fury fight start taking priority, maybe over a Pulev, if the Pulev fight extends beyond the summer," he told the Sky Sports on possibilities of putting the mandatory fight on hold.

AJ has June 20 set for his fight with Kubrat and that remains unchanged only that the prevailing virus pandemic might force the fight to go beyond July and that might result in Joshua taking on Fury, who will definitely be fighting Wilder this year.

"I mean anything is possible, but contractually Deontay Wilder is going to want his fight next," Eddie clarified. "Right now, for us, we're fighting Kubrat Pulev, June 20, and it could be July 25, but everything is uncertain at the moment."

Joshua suffered his first defeat to Andy Ruiz who became the first Mexican-American heavyweight in history but the Briton regained his IBF, WBO, and WBA heavyweight belts in his rematch fight in December in Saudi Arabia.
