Daniel Sturridge Terminates Contract With Trabzonspor, Banned From Football For Four Months
Former Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has terminated the contract signed with Turkish side Trabzonspor "mutually" according to a statement released by the club on Monday.
Aside from resigning from his contract with the club, he has been banned for football for four months following an allegation of breaking betting rules but giving his relative an insider information over possible transfers in 2018 Januart transfer window.
Daniel left Liverpool after a loan spell at West Bromwich to sign a three-year contract with Trabzonspor in summer during which he scored eight goals in 13 appearances in all competitions.
The club confirmed the termination of the contract which was meant to late until May 2021, will take an effect from today when the English player will leave the club as a free agent.
"The professional footballer contract signed between our company and our professional footballer Daniel Andre Sturridge, dated 21.08.2019 and ending 31.05.2021 has been mutually terminated," the statement reads.
In effect, the statement clarified that Sturridge forfeited all rights and receivables due to him as stipulated in his contract by so doing.
After terminating contract with Trabzonspor, Daniel has been banned from football worldwide for breaking betting rules and also fined £150,000. He was served six weeks ban with four suspened but the English FA applealed the sentence and has it overturned for a much lengthy ban.
