Premier League: Arsenal Beat Newcastle United For First League Game Win After Four Consecutive Draws
It was a happy ending for Arsenal at Emirates Stadium for beating Newcastle United 4-0 after a goalless first half. Making the top-four or Europa League slot is apparently not in view for Gunners but at least the victory sent them up the table to the 10th position.
After four consecutive league game draws, Arsenal seized the second half of the game to snap the winning-drought that has lasted since 2-0 win over Manchester United on New Year's Day. Invariable, they have a record of W2D4L1 since Mikel Arteta took over the role from former head coach Unai Emery.
Not much of clear chances were created the first half but they quickly stepped up the game soon after the break with Eddie Nketiah's shot that clipped the bar with an assist from Nicolas Pepe. Soon after that, Pepe set up the opening goal with a cross that found Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang for a header and beat Martin Dubravka to the goal.

Three minutes later, Pepe smashed into the net a pass from Bukayo Saka and Alexander Lacazette set up Mesut Ozil for the third goal and he followed up with scoring the fourth in the added minutes.
"I'm so pleased for Laca - the reaction of the players and staff towards him. He fights for everyone," said Arteta in praise of the Frenchman. "He's been unlucky. He will gain confidence from this and knows how everyone appreciates him."
Magpies did have a couple of chances that could have changed the game a bit but happened to be unlucky with Saint-Maximin's clipped the bar and Sean Longstaff's shot from close range that went wide.
