Novak Djokovic Beats Stefanos Tsitsipas For Fifth Dubai Tennis Championships Title

Novak Djokovic has won his second title of the season at the Dubai Tennis Championships where he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the title for the first time since 2013.

The world number one shrugged off resilience from the Greek to clinch the title for the fifth time by outclassing him in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Novak reached the final after a tough sem-final match against French player Gael Monfils to reach the final.

After against the notion that Novak won in straight sets, he admitted the victory did not come through easy for him, as he did because he was fortunate to hold serve against in the opening set. Tsitsipas had broken back to level 2-2 before he reclaimed the lead at 5-3 before striking a cross-court backhand winner.

"Yesterday, I was one shit away from losing the match when three match points down and it could have easily happened I was not here. That is sport," Djokovic said recalling semi-final match against Monfils.

Meanwhile, Tsitispas has also won a title in his start to the season with his first in Marseille Open last weekend but could not have his second in a roll as the Serb claimed a break en route winning his 79th career title.
