Mercedes To Offer Lewis Hamilton New Contract
Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton will not be parting ways any time soon and both are about to enter into talks for a new contract at the start of 2020 season in March.
Hamilton is into his seventh season with the team he joined from McLaren in 2013, he has just this season left in his contract and his boss Toto Wolff is willing to discuss a new deal with him. Wolff is hopeful the Brit will also be willing to remain with the team to drive the car that won him the championship six times.
"We would like to have the fastest man in the car," said Wolff. "I know that Lewis wants to have the fastest car. There is a mutual outcome."
It was previously not clear if Wolff will be interested in renewing Hamilton's contract when his expires and that paved way for the speculations that Sebastian Vettel might be signed to Mercedez while Hamilton might change for Ferrari.
He added: "We travel around the world almost 10months of the year and get on each other's nerves every other weekend and what we do over the winter is leave each other in peace."
